  • Mumbai Port

    IMU Mumbai campus consists of two premier institutions, Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Advanced Maritime Studies and Research (LBS CAMSAR) and the Marine Engineering and Research Institute (MERI).

    Offering a comprehensive range of courses for Merchant Navy personnel, LBS CAMSAR is a premier post-sea Maritime Education and Training Institution. It is renowned being the only Institution in India to offer Extra Masters & Extra First Class Engineer courses - the highest programmes in the field of Nautical Science and Marine Engineering respectively.  Know more

  • Navi Mumbai

    Erstwhile known as Training Ship Chanakya, the pioneer of the first pre-sea training institution in India, the Navi Mumbai campus came under the Maritime University in 2008. T.S Chanakya is also the shore-based successor to the T.S Rajendra and T.S Dufferin, where the training of Marchant Navy Officers in India had first begun in 1927. A renowned training institute in the whole of Southeast Asia, the extensive 40-acre campus is spread parallelly to the Palm Beach Highway and is free from the city’s noise and pollution. Know more

  • Kochi

    Kochi, the queen of the Arabian Sea, enjoys rich maritime history and the longest coastlines in the east-west trade route. It is also strategically placed in proximity to the maritime highway, thereby fuelling the growth of Kochi as a maritime hub and opening its doors to the IMU campus in 2009. The campus is spread across 12.6 acres with a built-up area of 25,000 sq. feet at the serene location of Willingdon Island, the largest artificial island in India. Know more

  • Kolkata

    IMU Kolkata Campus comprises two top-tier institutions - the Marine Engineering and Research Institute (MERI, Kolkata) and the Indian Institute of Port Management (IIPM, Kolkata). Founded in 1949 by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, MERI was awarded the "Gateway award of Excellence in Maritime Education - Quality" in 2010. Considered a premier Maritime Training Institute in the whole of Southeast Asia, the sprawling 33-acre campus has a 57% free area with 58861 sq. meters of built-up area. The IIPM Kolkata, set up by the Kolkata Port Trust, Govt. of India in 1965, specializes in the domain of Graduate Management Institute for port and shipping management. Know more

  • Vishakapatnam

    Erstwhile known as NSDEC, IMU Vishakhapatnam is a juncture of the centrally established IMU at Chennai and the National Ship Design and Research Centre - India’s finest ship design and maritime research institution. Sweeping across the 110-acre site in Vangali village of Sabbavarm Mandal, IMU Vishakapatnam imparts cumulative expertise and a repository of knowledge on ship design and Maritime Technology.     The IMU Chennai campus, formerly known as the National Maritime Academy Campus, is credited with ISO 9001:2000 Certification and grade 1 rating by ICRA. Running along the coast of the Bay of Bengal, a 25 km drive along the scenic East Coast Road towards Mahabalipuram leads up to the 20-acre beachfront campus. Amidst the charms of the countryside, an impressive edifice houses the academic block, hostel block, residential and recreational facilities. It is also home to an impressive library of over 8,000 maritime books, journals and magazines. Know more

Headquartered in Chennai, IMU has 6 Regional Campuses at Chennai, Kolkata, Navi Mumbai, Mumbai, Visakhapatnam and Kochi. The erstwhile institute T S Chanakya became the Navi Mumbai Campus and the erstwhile institute MERI Mumbai & LBS CAMSAR became the Mumbai Port Campus respectively; the erstwhile institutes MERI Kolkata & IIPM became the Kolkata Campus; the erstwhile National Maritime Academy became the Chennai Campus of IMU; and the erstwhile National Ship Design and Research Centre became the Visakhapatnam Campus of IMU.
