International Women’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Indian Maritime University (IMU), Kochi Campus, on 6 March 2026. The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Ms. Deepa Varghese, Treasurer of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (Southern India Regional Council), by lighting the traditional lamp.
In her address, Ms. Varghese shared insights from her professional journey and encouraged students to face challenges with confidence, resilience, and determination. She emphasized the importance of perseverance and self-belief in achieving professional and personal success.
The Campus Director, RAdm. S. N. Alamanda (Retd.), along with HoD–SMM Dr. M. Rajeswari and Assistant Registrar Ms. Sreeja K. J., also addressed the gathering. They highlighted the significant contributions of women in various fields and stressed the importance of empowerment, equality, and financial independence for women in today’s society.
The celebration also featured vibrant cultural performances by the students of IMU Kochi Campus, including group songs and dances, which added color and energy to the event.
