IMU has established I-SEAS (Indian Maritime University – Startup Entrepreneurship Accelerator Setup) under the Sagarmala Start-up Innovation Initiative (S2I2) of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. The initiative aims to nurture innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology-driven solutions for the maritime sector. The IMU Maritime Innovation Hub provides incubation, mentorship, seed funding, industry connect, and business support to promising maritime start-ups, enabling them to develop innovative solutions for ports, shipping, logistics, inland waterways, and the blue economy. As a major milestone, IMU onboarded its first cohort of four maritime start-ups into the Innovation Hub. The selected start-ups signed incubation agreements and received seed funding to accelerate product development and commercialization. Through IMU I-SEAS, the University seeks to strengthen India's maritime innovation ecosystem by fostering research commercialization, encouraging entrepreneurship, and supporting sustainable, technology-driven growth in the maritime sector.
