Welcome to the Diploma in Nautical Science (DNS) program at our maritime university. As the Head of the Department, it is my pleasure to introduce you to our program that is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in the knowledge and skills necessary to pursue a career as a deck officer. Overview

Diploma in Nautical Science is a comprehensive 1-year residential program that trains students in the fundamentals of marine navigation, seamanship, and safety management.Upon successful completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the examinations required for obtaining a Certificate of Competency (CoC) as a Deck Officer in the merchant navy. This certificate is issued by the Directorate General of Shipping, Government of India, and is recognized internationally.

Eligibility

  • Educational Qualification

    Candidates must have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) as mandatory subjects from a recognized board.
    Minimum Marks:
     
    a) 60% aggregate marks in PCM 
    b) 50% marks in English subject in 10+2 examination.

  • Relaxation

    For SC/ST candidates : There is a relaxation of 5% in the minimum marks required PCM; however, it will not apply to English subject Marks


  • Age Limit

    The minimum age limit for admission to the Marine Engineering programme is 17 years. However, the upper age limit may vary depending on the following:
     
    a) Male: General-25 years, OBC (NCL) - 28 years, (SC/ST-30 years)
     
    b) Female: General-27 years, OBC (NCL) - 30 years (SC/ST-32 years)
     
    Note: The reference date for calculation of the age will be from the date of commencement of the Academic Session. i.e. 01.08.2024.


  • Medical Certificate

    All the candidates who qualify for this program require to submit a Physical Fitness Certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner at the time of Certificate Verification
