The IMU and the Bay of Bengal Programme Inter-Governmental Organisation (BOBP-IGO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 19 June 2025, at the IMU Headquarters in Chennai. This MoU marks the beginning of a strategic partnership to collaborate in areas such as maritime education, marine research, capacity building, and blue economy initiatives in the Bay of Bengal region. Senior officials from both organizations attended the signing ceremony, reaffirming their commitment to advancing regional cooperation and sustainable development through joint training, research, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
