IMU at the First EGM of Indian Maritime Centre

IMU participated in the first Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) of the Indian Maritime Centre (IMC), held on 7 July 2025, marking a significant step toward collaborative maritime dialogue among key industry stakeholders. Dr. Malini V. Shankar (Retd. IAS), Vice Chancellor of IMU, emphasized the potential of IMC to function as a think-tank supporting the Government on themes such as international cooperation and bilateral agreements. She advocated for the use of statistical analysis and structured surveys to enable evidence-based policy-making, recommending that IMC establish the necessary frameworks for such initiatives. The event brought together IMC’s member associations for the first time, fostering meaningful discussions, and concluded with a networking cocktail dinner. IMU was represented by Dr. Malini V. Shankar, Capt. Mihir Chandra (Director, IMU Navi Mumbai Campus), and Mr. R. Saravanan (Deputy Registrar), reflecting IMU’s strong commitment to advancing maritime policy, fostering industry-academia collaboration, and supporting unified efforts in shaping the future of the maritime sector.
