Dr. Kalyan Mitra, who, till recently was a Faculty at IMU-KC, received an Omkarnath and Chuni Wazir outstanding teaching Award from the Institute of Marine Engineers (India) for excellence in education. This award was instituted to judge the Teacher in DG Shipping recognized MTI's. It was awarded by the Institute of Marine Engineers. Dr. Kalyan Mitra also received Excellence in Research Award from Min. of Shipping & Transport in 2007- 08.
