IMU – Navi Mumbai Campus recently organized a thought-provoking workshop on the theme “Ship Finance – Bringing Lenders, Insurers, and Owners of Floating Assets on the Same Platform”, aimed at fostering collaboration among key maritime stakeholders. The workshop brought together lenders, insurers, shipowners, and policy experts to explore pressing challenges and opportunities in ship finance, green capital mobilization, and regulatory alignment. Discussions focused on critical topics such as challenges in ship financing and dry dock infrastructure, the role of green finance and capital expenditure in sustainable shipbuilding, maritime insurance reforms and risk assessment, policy clarity and legal frameworks, and the need for establishing a National Maritime Fund to strengthen India’s shipbuilding capacity and global credibility. Conducted in a hybrid format, the event saw active participation from across the maritime ecosystem, both in person and online. Special thanks were extended to Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Dr. Malini V. Shankar, Mrs. H. K. Joshi (Former CMD of SCI), the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India, and Sea and Coast for their invaluable guidance and support.
