Fifty-three B.Tech (Marine Engineering) cadets from the Indian Maritime University – Chennai Campus recently completed a 10-day internship from 23rd June to 4th July 2025 at the Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam, which included a guided visit to INS Kesari. The internship provided immersive exposure to the refitting and repair of naval vessels, workshop-based training in PGS, MCD, RAC, and CNC operations, and hands-on experience in electrical systems, forging, fabrication, and outfitting. Cadets also participated in modules at the Dockyard Apprentice School, covering welding, machining, and electronics, and explored dry dock systems such as shape and keel blocks, marine rails, and ship lift mechanisms. Additionally, they engaged with operational systems like IPMS, propulsion units, and control panels, and toured key sections of INS Kesari, including the bridge, engine room, and RO plants, gaining invaluable practical insights into marine engineering in a naval setting.
