From 27th to 29th May 2025, the Indian Maritime University – Chennai Campus (IMU-CC) conducted its first Skipper & Skipper Mates Training Programme for officers of the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN). This training was held at NACIN Palasamudram under the IMU–NACIN Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on 27 March 2025.. 22 officers were trained through a blend of classroom theory and advanced simulator sessions, covering key modules such as: ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System), GMDSS (Global Maritime Distress and Safety System), FMSMS (Fault Management & Safety Management Systems). The programme aims to enhance maritime operational competence among NACIN personnel involved in coastal and maritime enforcement duties.
